September 16, 2013
Dr. Sami Badwood, director of the Jeddah Health Affairs, has emphasized the necessity to monitor health centers at King Abdulaziz International Airport and the Jeddah Islamic Port for infectious diseases among pilgrims coming to the Kingdom.
He said the administrations of these health monitoring centers need to pay particular attention to investigating and following-up on cases of coronavirus, to ensure the safety and health of pilgrims.
Badwood explained that the Jeddah Health Affairs departments and the health centers at the ports of entry, are equipped with the necessary human resources cadres as well as the technical, administrative and medical teams to receive pilgrims.
Abdulghani Al-Malki, manager of the health monitoring center at Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz Airport, said the number of employees recruited from Jeddah Health Department stands at 620.
He explained that they would be working in the health center to support the staff during the upcoming Haj season.
Al-Malki indicated that the health centers at the entry ports are working round the clock to provide the required health services to pilgrims. “Our health inspectors ensure pilgrims are in good health and free from infectious diseases. They also present preventative medications such as vaccinations, offer health care facilities, which include taking them to Jeddah hospitals if the need arises,” he added.
Adel Turkistani, manager at the Jeddah Islamic Port (JIP), also reassured that 140 medical staff members have been assigned to the health monitoring center in the port to provide services to pilgrims.
