Three stray cats found by the Veterinary Service and Health Ministry inspectors at Shalva and Holit in southwest Israel were confirmed as having died from eating poultry infected with avian flu.

Yes, cats can be infected by H5N1.
People who think they're doing a good thing in the world by feeding strays and abandoning cats should write this down right next to where they write off native songbird populations. Cats get under the crawl spaces below people's homes and spray urine and feces, spreading disease.
I used to be all knocked out by their cute fur and whiskers but then I sort of turned about 13...
