Vietnam reports first death from bird flu in 2012 #H5N1 #birdflu

A duck farmer became the first victim died from bird flu in Vietnam for nearly two years, while other deaths due to H5N1 virus were reported in neighboring Cambodia.

Authorities in Vietnam on 19 / 1 announced 18-year-old farmer in Hau Giang province died after a high fever and respiratory problems. Results of blood tests showed positive for victims of avian influenza virus H5N1.

Meanwhile, authorities in Cambodia for a two-year-old boy died from bird flu Wednesday 18 / 1. Before that, the victim comes in contact with dead poultry or poultry disease.

Both deaths in Vietnam and Cambodia seem to be caused by infected poultry, there is no doubt catch the virus from another person.

H5N1 avian influenza virus is often transmitted by people who have direct contact with infected poultry.

Recently, Indonesia, Egypt, and China also reported victims of bird flu.

Since the H5N1 flu virus was discovered in 2003 there have been 341 people worldwide die from this virus. Of which about 60 cases occurred in Vietnam, one of the number of deaths from bird flu is the highest in Southeast Asia.

Vietnam government called for increased efforts to combat bird flu in Chinese New Year peak season.
