Three Chicken Dead Together, One Positive Bird Flu

The three birds in the village of Tagogapu, District Padalarang, District Padalarang died suddenly at the same location at the same time. One of them tested positive for avian flu virus (avian influenza type H5N1). Chicken livestock owners reported the incident to officers Avian Influenza Rapid Response Team (PDSR) DVO West Bandung last week. All three birds were eventually destroyed because it was feared the spread of bird flu virus.

"Although two other chicken bird flu negative, but we destroy all and its location was sterilized. This is done to prevent the spread of the virus, " said Head of Ranch West Bandung regency, Adiyoto in Batujajar, Tuesday (01.31.12).

According Adiyoto, the handling of bird flu infected poultry is done by giving disinfectant around poultry cages. A number of positive poultry bird flu should be immediately destroyed and buried to a depth of not less than 50 centimeters.

Every year, bird flu cases always occur in West Bandung regency. Animal Husbandry Department reported that throughout 2011 there were 239 cases of poultry die from bird flu that occurred in District Padalarang and Cipatat. However, the virus spread to eight other districts in the vicinity.
