Bad weather stalls culling operations

Shillong, January 19 (NNN):
Bad weather stalled the culling operations of birds in and around the bird flu infected town of Willimnagar in East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.The government intended to complete the culling of poultry birds in 17 odd villages including Williamnagar on Thursday . 6340 birds, 8307 eggs and 840 Kgs of feeds were disposed off by the quarantine group from the state veterinary department , informed the Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills district Pravin Bakshi,adding ,”Inclement weather restricted the specialized team from going out with the exercise". He further said that the number of culled birds and disinfected poultry farms could have been higher and could have been completed on Thursday, if not for the bad weather.
