Culling begins in ICAR complex

Culling of poultry started in the vicinity of Lembucherra ICAR complex today after Bird flu has reappeared. Following reports of deaths of poultry birds in the area, blood samples were collected and examined and H5 strain of avian influenza virus was found. More than 2,500 ducks and birds would be culled today in the area.
As many as 16 rapid response teams were formed to cull the ducks and birds in the area. Sources said, BSF was alerted so that no poultry could enter into Indian Territory. The movement of poultry has been restricted from the vicinity of Lembucherra ICAR complex. There is panic among the locals following the detection of Bird Flu in the area.
