Mataram, 16/10 (AFP) - Special Teams General Hospital, West Nusa Tenggara Province are still awaiting lab results to confirm whether the two patients who were treated in isolation space of positive bird flu disease or not.
"We are still awaiting lab results first. Yet can we give any comment at this time," said Chairman Tim Bird Flu Handling Patient Provincial General Hospital (Dr) West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Dr. Salim, pulmonary disease specialist, in Mataram , on Sunday. He said it still give freedom to the families of patients to see up in isolation, because one patient susfect bird flu was aged 11 months.
"One patient was an infant is not possible in living alone, so she accompanied in the treatment room," he said. Earlier, two suspected bird flu patients from Central Lombok regency treated in isolation space Dr NTB specially prepared for the treatment of disease caused by H5N1 virus.
NTB RSUP officer said two suspected bird flu patients were referred from the Regional General Hospital (Hospital) Praya, Central Lombok.
Two of these patients was MAD (11 months), residents of District Pringgarata, and IS (53) origin Praya subdistrict in Central Lombok.
Patients suspected of bird flu that makes the department of NTB on Saturday (15/10) at around 15:30 AM and immediately taken to the special handling of bird flu disease, ie, in the ward Flamboyan.
Parents MAD claim dozens of chickens in the neighborhood died suddenly.
In the past week reported many chickens died suddenly in the city of Mataram and Central Lombok.
Bird flu (avian influenza) is an infectious disease caused by influenza virus type A subtype H5N1.
Clinical symptoms in humans include fever (body temperature above 38 degrees Celsius, cough and sore throat, upper respiratory tract inflammation, pneumonia, eye infections, and muscle pain. The incubation period in humans between one to three days.
