Indonesia: Patient Suspect Bird Flu Treated In RSUP NTB

Mataram, 15/10 (Spry) - Two patients suspect bird flu from Central Lombok regency treated in isolation rooms General Hospital of West Nusa Tenggara Province, prepared specifically for the treatment of disease caused by H5N1 virus.

Officers in the department of Mataram NTB on Saturday, said the two patients suspect bird flu was referred from the Regional General Hospital (Hospital) Praya, Central Lombok.

Two of these patients was MAD (11 months), residents of District Pringgarata, and IS (53) origin Praya subdistrict in Central Lombok.

Patient suspect bird flu was signed department of NTB on Saturday (15/10) at around 15:30 AM and immediately taken to a special room handling of bird flu disease, ie, in the ward rose.

Bird flu (avian influenza) is an infectious disease caused by influenza virus type A subtype H5N1.

Clinical symptoms in humans include fever (body temperature above 38 degrees Celsius, cough and sore throat, upper respiratory tract inflammation, pneumonia, eye infections, and muscle pain. The incubation period in humans between one to three days.

RSUP NTB has prepared a team and a special isolation room for treating patients with suspected bird flu.

Head of Field Services department of NTB Dr Fikri Hamzi Then H has previously said a special team handling bird flu patients of 10 people consisting of medical specialists and general practitioners.

"Special team handling bird flu patients in the department of NTB was established since 2009," he said
