Food related cholera and swine streptococcus:

26/05/2010

TP - Specialist medical or food plays an important role in the spread of epidemics, especially cholera and Streptococcus, but the food testing process is now more worrying fact.

At the same time in various regions across the country appear dangerous contagious diseases. According to the c - Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology Surgeons, more likely epidemic of acute diarrhea caused by cholera bacteria can continue to occur in some regions this summer.

The reason is that translation is dispersed in some localities, while some countries in the region continued to record the patient described. The increased interaction between countries, increase the risk of regional service penetration and in local outbreaks across the country.

Of the health statistics show that approximately 75% of people infected with cholera do not have symptoms of clinical disease but still excreted into the environment. Most worryingly, to the rainy season, dengue fever will be complicated and tend to break out into an epidemic if no preventive measures in time.

Pathogens from food insecure

Dr. Nguyen Tran Hien, said food plays an important role in the spread of epidemics, especially cholera and swine streptococcus. Cholera pathogen infection directly via food or water contaminated during or after processing. Vegetables are harvested and washed in areas where contaminated water and eating raw or undercooked carefully spread the cause of cholera.

Deputy Health Minister Trinh Quan Huan acknowledges many cases to detect food insecurity is due to the press, always on the health sector slowly. According to the Ministry of Health led a fact that post-inspection rate for thousands of food items at high risk is very low.

But not any locality may also perform tests to identify infected food or not. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Khan - Director of Food Hygiene and Safety (food safety), the Health Ministry said, in 2009, the Department survey assessing the capacity testing target of food safety in the provinces.

Results of microbiological criteria, most provinces have done tests Coliform, E. Coli, Salmonella, S. aureus but for B. cereus has 20 provinces and cities have not done this test, accounting for 31.75% rate.

For indicators of chemical pollution, Quang Binh has only to perform tests for antibiotic residues, accounting for 1.59% rate. Thai Binh, Ha Nam and Quang Tri are capable of performing tests for pesticide residues in animal pyrethroide group, accounting for 4.76% rate.

Only eight provinces throughout the country can perform tests fungal toxin, accounting for 12.70% rate. For indicators of heavy metals tested, with 20 provinces and cities have been able to perform, representing 31.75% rate. Regarding food additives tested only focused on two main groups are color products and synthetic sweeteners and other additives group remaining as preservatives, antioxidants ... hardly able to accomplish.
