West Bengal: At least 409 People Involved in Culling Put on Preventive Medication

(Agroviet-28/1/2010): At least 409 people are tracked in the medical area of avian influenza occurred in West Bengal, India.
In recent years, India has not ever happened infections bird flu in humans but the possibility that people infected in the target groups at high risk still exists.

A top Indian health officials said a total of 409 poultry, the culled poultry and vets involved in the work of destruction being preventive medication.

However, the Health Ministry said the country is not necessary to give the alarm for the current situation and India are still enough medicine reserves and medical equipment needed.

Avian influenza is recorded occurred in Murshidabad district, West Bengal on January 14. The officials said that so far, this flu has spread to service some areas in the district.

The destruction of poultry was carried out. So far, 116,824 poultry have been destroyed and 11,409 eggs also canceled.
