SINGAPORE REPORTS 10TH H1N1 FLU DEATH

SINGAPORE, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- A 43 year-old Chinese woman became the 10th victim of Influenza A (H1N1) in Singapore when she died at Changi General Hospital today.

The Singapore Health Ministry said the woman was sent to the hospital’s emergency department yesterday by ambulance after she was found unconscious at home.

She had a history of fever, cough and flu-like symptoms for more than a week and was later admitted to the intensive care unit where she was tested positive for the flu.

However, her condition deteriorated and she passed away this morning.

The ministry said the cause of her death had been certified as bronchopneumonia contributed by the flu infection.
